The idea for Dispoozal came from our everyday life of changing nappies.
As parents of four children, we have experienced thousands of nappy changes and all the unpredictability that comes with them. But the idea itself began with our first child, when we repeatedly found ourselves placing used nappies in makeshift spaces because there simply wasn't anywhere convenient to put them.
We asked ourselves a simple question:
"What can we buy that attaches to the change table and holds a used nappy?"
It turned out there was nothing.
We tried nappy bins, but for a young family on a tight budget, the ongoing cost of refill cartridges simply wasn't affordable. We also didn't like the idea of storing a week's worth of used nappies in the nursery.
So instead of giving up on the idea, we decided to build our own solution.
One afternoon, hubby headed out to the shed and built a simple prototype. All it did was hold a generic disposable nappy bag open, attached to the change table.
From the very first nappy change, we knew we'd created something that genuinely solved the problem we were experiencing. Naturally, it became part of every nappy change, and we couldn't imagine life without it. It was in that moment we realised this wasn't just a solution for our family — it had the potential to help countless others too.
What started as a simple homemade prototype gradually evolved into Dispoozal — a change-table-mounted disposal system designed to keep a prepared bag open and right beside you for every nappy change.
Developing it has involved far more than just having an idea. We've spent years refining the design, testing new prototypes, learning about manufacturing, and working through the many challenges involved in bringing a new product to life.
Throughout that journey, one thing has never changed: our goal has always been to make changing nappies easier and cleaner for parents. That's exactly what Dispoozal was designed to do, and we're very excited to be bringing it to market.
